Pinterest FTW!

I'm pretty sure that many of you have heard of Pinterest aka - the best website EVER.

It occurred to me the other day that while I have 973 pins, I wasn't DOING anything
with the information I had greedily gleaned from people more creative than me.

Except for the food...I've been cooking like crazy.

So, with my larger waistline tagging along like an annoying little sibling,
I've decided to make a weekly effort to utilize this plethora of information and
actually DO something that I have pinned.

It's crazy. I know.

This week is about water.

We all need to drink it...and most of us don't.

My main issue with water is that it is bland and basically I hate
drinking it. We all know how I love to keep track of things so I believe
that this pin is going to be my salvation as far as water consumption.

This is the pin, try as a might I can't figure out where the original link is for this
pin. The person who pinned it didn't do it right and pinned this whole person's blog
and not just the post that talks about this photo.

I love this idea! I do love my non-sweating, double insulated, straw included cup
but the fact is, when I use it, I have to think about how many times I've refilled
the cup so that I can calculate if I've reached my proper intake. This idea takes
ALL the thinking out of drinking water.

You shouldn't guzzle water 16 ounces at a time and with this idea you
can slowly drink your water throughout the day without having to wonder
how much you've had. You have a hourly goal that is easily kept!

I decided to just go cheap and re-use a Smart Water bottle. I guessed as to how far
apart I should place my four hash marks and I just went for it. If you want to go out
and buy a pretty bottle and then measure it all out, by all means, go for it. But you
don't NEED to do it that way. I also just used one  1 liter bottle (which is almost 34 oz,
double it and you have your 64 oz/day intake met) because really, I don't want to carry around two
water bottles. :)

So this is my oh-so-lovely water bottle. Notice the yellow tint? That
is Pedialyte! After looking at the Mio water flavor things I said to myself "Self,
why don't you just put pedialyte or gatorade in your bottle?"

Genius, I tell ya! Genius. So now, to combat flavorless water, I just put about a half
cup of gatorade or pedialyte in my water and it adds just enough flavor to make the water
less boring.

Less boring = more drinking!

So far this has been working out for me. I hope that this will help combat
my chronic dehydration, especially since I'm planning on breastfeeding and apparently,
if you don't drink enough water you can lose your milk and if you lose your milk you are
done done done! There is no bringing it back.

Yay for pinterest!

Preggers: Week 27

-How far along are you: 27 Weeks, 2nd Trimester - LAST WEEK!!!

-Total Weigh Gain: 18 lbs.

-Fruit/Veggie of the week: Rutabaga (wth?)

-How are you sleeping: Meh. Lots and lots of tossing and turning. I keep thinking that I'm tired but I don't think I'm tired, I think I'm just worn down from work and basic financial worry.

-Weird Dreams of the week:
-I keep dreaming that we have two fish tanks and that all our fish are sick and I keep trying to save them (or let a couple die so that I can consolidate tanks) and they stay alive but barely and I'm sooo worried that Barry is going to be angry with me. I've had this dream a couple of times in varying circumstances. I know it is probably my fear of raising a child coming through because I know that Barry wouldn't be that upset if I killed off a bunch of fish. Shit happens and sometime fish just keel over.

-Stretch Marks: Butt. *grumblegrumble*

-Symptoms: I am freaking tired. And sluggish. And 2 o'clock hits me like a ton of bricks. And my toes are fat from lower leg swelling. I have cankles. I am just now starting to understand the pressure on the bladder phenomenon. I could go on.

-Fetal Movement: Yup! Lots! Baby Bear tends to move around at 11am and 5 pm. I'm pretty sure he moves around at 11 pm, but I'm usually asleep by then. I'm hoping this means he will be routine oriented!

-Food Cravings: None! Except Hot Cheetos. But I count that more as a comfort food than a craving.

-Anything making you queasy:  Nope

-Innie or Outie: Still 100% Innie.

-Emotions: This week has been a roller coaster ride of frustration. :)

-Missing anything: Energy, granted...I didn't really have a ton of it when I wasn't pregnant but compared to the sluggish feeling I'm dealing with right now, I was the freaking energizer bunny.

-Best Moment of the Week: Having the baby attend Barry's first Red Carpet. :)

-Milestones: It is the last week of the second trimester!! While I'm not exactly looking forward to the horrors of the third trimester...I feel better about us slowly inching towards the finish line.

A Visit to Old Town Spring

A little while back Barry and I took a little trip to Old Town Spring

It is a cute little shopping center (I use that term loosely) in Spring, TX
that is full of quaint small businesses. There is Twisted Yarns, Connie's
Bath Shack, Simply Texas Gourmet Foods, and this past time we discovered
The Steel Horse.

The Steel Horse is a small business that resells furniture decor. But
what is really cool is that their shop is located in what used to be the
bank of Old Town Spring. That bank was robbed by Bonnie and Clyde. How
cool is that!

When you go in to the shop you can actually go into this tiiiny little back room that
has the original bank vault that was broken in to.

The Steel Horse found some old articles about the bank and has framed them so
you can read about the history of the bank...while in the bank.

I was in heaven.

The vault is actually super super tiny, but back then people didn't really have too
many valuables. Almost everything was done by trade. We forgot to look but the
very sweet lady working there told us that there was still bullet holes in the front of the
building from the robbery.

I repeat: How cool is that!?!

The Steel Pony also had a cute cute cute little shop full of baby stuffs. Barry
bought a whole collection of baby toys for Baby Bear, and when I saw this I just had to laugh.

We went on a Thursday so most of the shops were closed down but
that was ok because by the time we had walked through five stores I was done. lol.

Preggers: Week 23-26

So I'm going to cheat and lump together the last couple of weeks.

I'm preggo, I'm allowed. :)

-How far along are you: 23+26 Weeks, 2nd Trimester

-Total Weigh Gain: 18 lbs. My weight tends to fluctuate A LOT (even before baby) so while on day I may be at 16lbs, the next day I may be a 20. I'm sticking to 18 until I hit something over 20 pounds.

-Fruit/Veggie of the week: Grapefruit, Cantaloupe, Cauliflower, Head of Lettuce.

-How are you sleeping:  Basically, I can't sleep well. I can just isn't very good sleep. Between the shifting, the hot (AND cold) flashes and the completely random charlie horses, I never quite get to deep sleep.

-Weird Dreams of the week:
-I'm sure I had some, I just can't remember them. I dreamed my mom moved into a really big, historically important, fixer-upper house. Random.

-Stretch Marks: Yes! *whinecrymoan* But oddly, not on  my stomach. They're on my butt. Sneaky Stretch Marks! I already had some on my thighs that I had come to terms with so this isn't the most devastating thing that could have happened, it is just a little disheartening. I haven't been putting the Bio-Oil on my butt so I guess its all my fault. :) So ladies, when the blogs tell you to put the stretch mark prevention cream on your belly, boobs, butt, thighs, and lower back - just do it! I've been putting Bio-Oil on my tummy and boobs and I don't have even a HINT of stretch marks but I neglected my bottom and now I have stretch marks. Bio-Oil works!

-Symptoms: I'm sure there are tons of them but I'm feeling lazy and I don't want to look through my pregnancy books to check. ;D

-Fetal Movement: Yes! I had jury duty last week for a murder trial (we found him not guilty, fo those of you who have to know). Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to LISTEN to very important information while your boy-child is kicking you six ways to sunday?!? And now you can SEE it happening so not only was I having trouble paying attention, I'm pretty sure that the judge was eyeballin' me to try and catch the kicks happening lol. He was a really awesome judge. :)

-Food Cravings: I'm pretty content with my Hot Cheetos. And popcorn. And for some reason greek food is really hitting the spot, but I don't think these are cravings per se, they just happen to be my form of comfort food. Dinner is still a 45 minute discussion in my house.

-Anything making you queasy: Not queasy, everything, and I do mean everything, gives me indigestion. Me and tums are buddies.

-Innie or Outie: Still 100% Innie, although I think I may have some outie action starting to happen it is still very much an innie.

-Emotions: I get frustrated. A lot. Specifically with Barry. He has been working a lot (yay!), which is awesome, but I don't get to see him as much and I am feeling very very needy. We are not a couple that does well apart. When we don't spend a lot of time together we get cranky, short tempered, and fussy. And our dryer just popped its belt. Not helping.

-Missing anything: Had you asked me that question thirty minutes ago I could have told you what I'm missing, but for the life of me I can't remember right now.

-Best Moment of the Week: If I had to pick a single moment...maybe when I got my Belly Buds in? I can now play music to the baby :)

-Milestones: None really. Meh.

Preggers: Week 22

-How far along are you: 22 Weeks, 2nd Trimester

-Total Weigh Gain: 18 lbs.

-Fruit/Veggie of the week: Papaya

-How are you sleeping: Meh. I have a tendency to wake up for about thirty seconds at a time about six times a night but I always fall back asleep pretty quickly so I can't complain...too much. :)

-Weird Dreams of the week:

-Stretch Marks: Nope! Thank goodness! Although, I'm pretty sure that I'm starting to get varicose veins. :(

-Symptoms: I don't think I'm having too many, but I may have to go back to the books and see if I'm missing out on anything that is pregnancy related.

-Fetal Movement: Yes, yes, yes! :D

-Food Cravings: Still none. Reeeeally getting kind of annoying now.

-Anything making you queasy:  Nope, but I'm starting to get some pretty serious indigestion. Tums may be in my future.

-Innie or Outie: Still 100% Innie. Barry is convinced that mine is going to stay in lol he says I have a deep belly button. I think he has lost his mind. :)

-Emotions: I've been good! I think? You may have to ask Barry lol

-Missing anything: If you had asked me four months ago if I was happy with my weight I would have told you no...ask me now and I'll tell you how much I miss having a semi flat stomach. :) While I am adoring this time in my life, I can't wait to start really working out when I have Baby Bear. Sometimes I forget that I'm pregnant and then I catch my reflection in a window or mirror and I'm like "Oh my gawd! I'm HUUUGE!" lol

-Best Moment of the Week: Having my first Mother's Day. :) Barry took me to the zoo and then we saw a movie. It was a simple, but wonderful day. We also had another ultrasound done, so we got to see Baby Bear again!

-Milestones: First Mother's Day! :D
